WBSSC Extends Application Deadline for Assistant Teacher Posts Until July 21, 2025

New deadline follows court directive and technical issues.

The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has officially extended the application period for the 2nd State Level Selection Test (SLST) 2025, aimed at filling 35,726 assistant teacher vacancies in state-supported secondary and higher secondary schools. This extension allows candidates additional time to submit their applications until July 21, 2025, at 5:59 PM, with the fee payment window remaining open until 11:59 PM of the same day.

This decision comes after the High Court issued directives barring certain candidates from the process and subsequent technical challenges faced by applicants, prompting a need for additional time. The extended deadline aims to ensure that all eligible candidates have an opportunity to apply without haste.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Classes IX–X: Graduates/Postgraduates with at least 50% marks, plus a B.Ed. or 4-year integrated B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  • Classes XI–XII: Postgraduates with minimum 50% marks along with a B.Ed. degree.
  • Age Limit: 21–40 years, with age relaxations applicable for SC/ST (+5 years), OBC (+3 years), and PH candidates (+8 years).

Prospective candidates are encouraged to review the detailed eligibility requirements and prepare their documents accordingly. With the exam tentatively scheduled for the first week of September 2025, timely submission of applications will be crucial for participation in the selection process.
