The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) conducts this recruitment through a two-stage written examination. Both stages are offline and consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

- Part A – General Studies: Topics include Current Affairs, Indian History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Environment, General Science, Logical Reasoning, and English/Hindi Grammar at Class 10 level.
- Part B – Concerned Subject: Requires graduation-level knowledge in the subject opted, such as Hindi literature, Mathematics, or Science stream.
