TNPSC Group 2 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The TNPSC Combined Civil Services Examination-II (Group 2 & 2A) for 2025 offers a range of positions requiring specific eligibility criteria. Here are the detailed requirements for candidates aspiring to participate in this prestigious examination.

Nationality / Citizenship

• Indian citizens
• Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan
• Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before January 1, 1962
• Persons of Indian origin from specified countries intending to settle in India

Candidates from the last three categories must secure a Certificate of Eligibility from the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline is a general requirement.
• Specific posts such as Assistant Section Officer and Audit Inspector require advanced degrees or specific diplomas.

Age Limits (as on 1 July 2025)

• Minimum age for most posts is 18 years.
• Age varies by post, with specific limits for roles such as Sub-Registrar and Probation Officer.

The general upper age limit is 32 years for unreserved categories, with no upper age limit for certain reserved categories.

Language Proficiency

All candidates must demonstrate adequate knowledge of Tamil, including passing a mandatory Tamil Eligibility Test.

Experience

No prior work experience is required for any of the posts.

Other Conditions

Government employees with more than 5 years of service are not eligible for general category positions.
